    Dear @premiumpowermedia I politely suggest the commentator "@Fanfanbalibar" is using "Chat GPT" as a sloppy synonym for the rather robotic and monotonous and over-constant tempo of the narration. The content of your analysis is top notch. As always. Likewise, I admittedly conjecture, is the article written by Valentino St. Germain on Medium. It might even be justly remarked that the style of your narration (patently a read-out-loud tool) is a Brechtian device to snap your audience out of overly-comfortable luxuriating in your thoughts. You are dead right that the constant reworking, and hence reanalysis, of predominating themes within the movie, such as: (i) the multiple female characters played by Kim Novak, all of whom are interlinked by lies, deception and impersonation; (ii) the fact that all these characters seem permeated by what (to heteronormative petit-bourgeois domestic hypocrisy) are outre erotic energies or projections of subconscious distortions, such as her "daddy-Electra" obsession with James Stewart ("fuck me daddy now"), or the lapping allure of necrophilia; ..... is itself a manifestation of obsessive and non-terminal over-analysis. Prurient fascination in fact. Likewise the time-dilation and emotionally-depleted episodes of boredom or alienation. See also this insightful and concise commentary by Fandor, to the effect that the developmental logic of the film has very little to do with the conventional golden-age Hollywood conceit of dramatic realism or logico-factual consistency. Instead, it has everything to do with hyper-symbolic dreamscapes, cut-up and stuck together in a surreal collage. ua-cam.com/video/F3WHuOcwyUs/v-deo.html Love andrea

      Thanks. Your hard work in making your reviews is much appreciated. I try to write things that are at least half-insightful and thought-provoking. Just occasionally, I hit the button. I meant to say that much of Hitch's shocking "filmic art" often strikes me as springing from a very savvy and very Freudian switching between adressing different layes of our psychcial existence, using different psychodramatic tools and aesthetics. Between the surface rationality and humour of witty balanced ego-perepctives (like Noel Coward or Emma Thompson or Juliet Stevenson in best repartee and piano playing mode); and extremely sinsiter and distrubing expressions of the emotional tsunamies of the unconscious psyche. Especially our collective (un)consciousess, which I submit is an actual objective, co-evolving, interpersonal organic being, probaly operating on electro-magnetic and electro-dynamical models we don't yet know how to grasp. The "great machine" in Forbidden Planet is a well-known analogy - an absolutely thrilling conception! An organic and usually protective being, permeating all our social and conversational lives, and playing with our ego-perspectives with extraordinary dexterity. Sometimes with great kindliness and joyful constructivity, like the protective and very maternal-womnly Hindu goddess Kali Ma; and sometimes with diabolical energies, like the fierce slaying Durgha, her hips bedecked with strings of skulls! Perhaps it is also analogous to Jung's system of archtypes, sometimes propelling cultures into delightful epochs of perception and progress (reanaissance Venice, perhaps). At others, holding us tightly to face a shadowy inferno of revolting disgusting life-negative madness (dare I mention Auschwitz and Hiroshima). Love andrea.

    Scotty became a detective because he was idealistic, he was from a well-to-do family otherwise he'd be unlikely to be on Gavin Elster's radar. Improbable stories are a stock part of fiction, there is no reason the events can't be taken literally.

    • @premiumpowermedia
      @premiumpowermedia Місяць тому

      Scotty wasn't on Elster's radar, he never contacted him nor cared about him in 20 plus years (ever). He just knew that this dope was used to be a detective and seemingly a bad one, so Elster's tried to con him and have him take the rap for murder. Also, there is no point in the story that suggests Scotty was rich, the reason he keep saying it, is because he is not Scotty and he is not a cop and he's never been one. He is a rich playboy in a near-comatose state at an institution, which is my analysis. Everything is in his head and none of it is real.

    • @2ndavenuesw481
      @2ndavenuesw481 Місяць тому

      @@premiumpowermedia it doesn't matter that he didn't talk to Scotty for 20 years, because knowing someone from high school or college is enough to pique the psychopaths interest, especially when he hears about the acrophobia. Hitchcock wants you to understand that batshit crazy people like the Elster of the film exist. The story doesn't have to be likely, it just has to be possible. It's not an impossible story. San Francisco is full of deviants, it's not as far-fetched as you think. There rich deranged mentally ill people like Scotty (when he's in the institution and afterwards), and there are rich psychopaths like Elster. If you can't imagine someone like Elster existing and planning something like what occurs in the story you have a poverty of imagination. As for the surrealistic lighting, that is not really dream-like, rather, it is the response of someone highly sensitive (like an acrophobe or an epileptic). The lighting effects are a way to compensate for the inadequacy of a camera to show the full vividness of real life. It's a vivid film, but not as vivid as reality.

Gavin told Scotty, that he read about his accident that killed a cop and about his vertigo. This is what caused Gavin to contact him, since he seemed like such a dope, not because Scotty was on his radar. Also, Scotty the cop can't know so much about women's high fashion, makeup, and so on. It's all in the mind of a near-comatose patient.

    Evaporative humidifiers can definitely spread pathogens throughout your house if you don't put something antimicrobial in the water AND empty the tank and clean it often, I would say at least every 2 days of continuous usage. Also never ever leave water in it if you're going to stop using it for a longer time, that could quickly turn into an infectious nightmare.

    Well Vertigo is not a perfect movie. I've only seen one other critique of this, but Hitchcock's principles backfire on him in the "second" half of the movie and substantially reduce its effectiveness. Hitch once said in an interview that a key to good suspense is keeping the audience properly informed so they aren't confused. But the letter that character Judy started to write, and narrated to the audience, gave everything away. It severely undermined the suspense and intrigue. It was anticlimactic. The denouement was rushed instead of artfully allowed to unfold. One thing I remember my creative writing teacher telling me was "don't tell the reader too much". Let the meaning unfold naturally within the writing itself. Hitchcock, the master, blundered as Robert E Lee blundered at Gettysburg. Masters aren't perfect. Despite Vertigo's imperfections, its ethereal and mystical qualities drew me in. Not sure I agree with the theories of this video though. Too clever or conspiratorial by half. So Vertigo is my #1 Hitchcock movie, and I don't mind it being regarded as greatest movie of all time. It certainly imo is a better choice than Citizen Kane.

    • @premiumpowermedia
      @premiumpowermedia 5 місяців тому

      Hi, I don't consider Vertigo flawed or imperfect. It's all a dream or hallucinations. It's not meant to be logical. That's why it was ranked as the best movie ever made. It's masterfully enigmatic.

    My take is slightly different. Scotty dreams up the whole Madeleine sequence before and during falling to his death at the beginning of the film. That makes Madeleine a dead man's yearning fantasy for his own deceased mother. That explains EVERYTHING -- including the film's title. 😮 You're right that it's all a fantasy, but your explanation for it is wrong. Scotty never made it to the sanatorium. Instead he plunged to his death. 😢

    • @premiumpowermedia
      @premiumpowermedia 6 місяців тому

      Hi, It’s silly to call anyone’s assumptions and interpretations of intentionally vague or mysterious cult movies as "wrong". There are for example several interpretations of the movie The Shining, all of them explained in a docu about that movie. None are “wrong”, just different. In your case, a dead man’s hallucinations, doesn’t resonate. The key and the only real scene in Vertigo is the shot of Scotty at the sanitorium with his “mother”. As explained in my analysis of the movie.

    • @browngreen933
      @browngreen933 6 місяців тому

      @@premiumpowermedia Hey, I agree with your fantasy scenario except for the sanatorium part. That wasn't real either. The last thing before that Scotty was hanging by his fingertips from a six story building. The cop who was going to save him had just fallen to his death. How do you get around that? The man is doomed. Nobody is there to save him. Nobody calls out, "Hang on, we're coming to rescue you!" Instead -- NOTHING. No indication that he was saved or saved himself. How do you explain that? Possibly something was cut from the movie we don't know about. Or maybe something was in the original script or book about being rescued. But until evidence turns up, I maintain he fell to his death and everything after the roof scene is a dream fantasy. I also agree there is strong mother symbolism in this movie -- exactly what a dead man would think about in his final moments. Thanks!

    • @premiumpowermedia
      @premiumpowermedia 5 місяців тому

      @@browngreen933 I agree, that opening scene does not make sense. Police officers jumping roof tops and risking their lives in such an obvious way, is cinematic but unreal. Also, the fact that a 50-year-old-man hanging by the tip of his fingers from a flimsy rain gutter 6 flights up can be saved (minutes) later is an impossibility. However, if there is a detective and a uniformed police officer on the scene, you can be sure there were other officers around as well. But Hitch doesn’t show them. I am not too concerned with the opening scene, it’s just meant to be exciting and to make the case that it took a traumatic experience to cause Vertigo to Scotty.

    • @browngreen933
      @browngreen933 5 місяців тому

      @@premiumpowermedia I differ. I think the opening scene explains every strange plot hole and inexplicable occurrence that follows. Plus I think the vertigo reference is actually Scotty falling when his fingers slip and he is dropping to his death. Everything about the cold blonde Madeleine mother character takes place in Scotty's crazed, agonized mind during that fatal, doomed tumbling vertigo inducing drop. It's a great movie! Hi, I have used both and use an Evaporative Air Cooler (it's an evaporative humidifier with a fan) on daily basis. I can tell from experience that the evaporative methods do not harm. I think the problem with ultrasonic is the method that is used to send the vapors into the air. That’s the key issue. That ultrasonics create white dust (sediments). Furthermore, ultrasonics change the color of gas burners from blue to red, due to sediments. Evaporatives do not do any of that harmful things. I think the exception could be an old school evaporative with a very dirty wick. The one in this video does not use a wick.

    so what i hearing is if your clean your ultrasonic humi like recommended, just like evap cools also recommend! and use no to low mineral water they work the same... except ultrasonic units make humidity alot faster than evap units... people just need to take responsibility. if you use tap water it at a min gona have chlorine or chloramine to it. but both evap and ultrasonic will eject the chemicals. sounds like use filltered water simple to do. and clean unit regularly. should have no issues.

    • @premiumpowermedia

      Hi, it doesn’t work that way. 1) ultrasonic do not humidify faster. 2) the white powder that the ultrasonics ejects is one of the core issues and it’s unique to them. 3) evaporatives do not eject white powder or bacteria. 4) chorine is not the problem with evaporatives. 5) filtered water isn’t purified enough to make ultrasonics acceptable.

      If you were using anything other than distilled water, the reason wasnt the humidifier itself, but the reduced air quality that the humidifier was creating by aerosolizing particles you do not want to be breathing in.

  • @dsp4392
    @dsp4392 2 роки тому

    That noise test was essentially useless. Next time, use a noise meter app to get an actual dB reading. They're not that accurate, but are sufficient for a comparison. Also, do the measurement with each device running separately to avoid picking up the other machine's noise. Also - and most importantly - you are vastly overstating the "dangers" of ultrasonic humidifiers vs evaporative. Ultrasonic do aerosolize more of the particulates contained in the water you put in, but this effect can be greatly reduced by using distilled water. There is also no evidence that the minerals emitted by ultrasonic humidifiers are actually harmful. The type and amount of extra particulate matter is usually no different than they are in a kitchen while cooking. On top of that, it's simply false to claim that ultrasonics spread bacteria while evaporatives do not. Evaporative humidifiers spread just as much, if not more bacteria than the ultrasonic ones by creating a warm environment for bacteria to multiply in the tank. This can be alleviated with a rigorous cleaning regimen for both humidifier types.

    What are you using for winter humidity? In the video, many hazards of ultrasonic humidifiers have been included but have you tested for yourself to see if the hazards also apply to the ultrasonic humidifier used in the video. Why aren’t there benefits of using ultrasonic humidifiers and hazards of evaporative humidifiers in the video since it’s deciding which is better. I am just trying to better understand your perspective because after watching the video, it could seem that all ultrasonic humidifiers should be avoided. From what I’ve seen from numerous other reviews, ultrasonic humidifiers have improved people’s life. Some of them testify that they have been using ultrasonic humidifiers for years and that it has been a better choice for them because of maintenance, health, etc.

    • @premiumpowermedia
      @premiumpowermedia 2 роки тому

      Hello, There are no benefits to ultrasonic humidifiers. Naturally regardless of how you add humidity into a dry room you’ll get some benefit. Even if it’s going to be harmful in the long run. People still smoke cigarettes today and they believe it makes their lives better, no matter the arguments against smoking. Also, almost 50% are now obese. You can’t go by general mindset. We have another video in this channel where I show 5 ultrasonics tested in 1 video ua-cam.com/video/vQl9uNTTHsk/v-deo.html so I obviously gave them a fair share. I also mention that I tried overall 11 different humidifying devices. IMO, if the room is small and the doors are closed a small evaporative humidifier is the best option, it also acts as a air washer or cleaner. If the room is large and or windows or doors are open, none of these will make any difference in the humidity setting of the room. For that you need to use a Evaporative Air Cooler which will add humidity rather quickly to a large room.

      @@seekfactsnotfiction9056 If you watched the video, you wouldn’t be considering ultrasonics. They are harmful not helpful and are pretty useless. The other factor to consider is that a humidifier requires constant adding of water for every 14 hours of usage. Can you handle it? That’s every single day. 3rd thing to consider, how do you know that the environment is low on humidity? First, you need to buy a digital hygrometer. If your humidity is about 30% or more don’t bother buying a machine. If it’s in the 10s and low 20s% then you should. Never buy an ultrasonic. They cause lung damage. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: you should always use demineralized/distilled water instead of tap water. • @npaul4171
      @npaul4171 Рік тому

      @@Adeline9418 The cartridges are really not sufficient for most tap water. Further, tap water contains a ton of other impurities. If the unit being used is an evaporative humidifier or a boiling water humidifier, this is mainly a moot point (except for spores, which is more of an issue if the unit is not properly cleaned). If the unit is an ultrasonic (or less common impeller-type) humidifier, it is an entirely different story, as these units will aerosolize whatever is in water and this is why you should use only distilled water in an ultrasonic humidifier and it should be kept clean enough to literally eat off of. Ultrasonic and impeller humidifiers can rapidly degrade indoor air quality if tap water, spring water, or purified water is used. With respect to the health harm that comes directly from the mineral rock, this is still a bit up for debate, but do you really want to be breathing in mineral rock? That seems like a bad a life choice. However, with respect to some of the bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, and toxins that can be in tap water, these are things you clearly do not want to breath in, and you will if you have an ultrasonic humidifier and use tap water in it. The bottom line is that ultrasonic and impeller humidifiers are safe when kept clean and distilled water is used. If they are not kept clean or if tap water is used, they can contribute to high levels of indoor air pollution, dispersing both harmful microorganisms as well as mineral rocks and any other contaminates present in the water, and this is something the makers of these products are not forthcoming about.
